Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition 2027: Opera Singers Apply by 31 January
The 22nd Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition will take place in Nowy Sącz, Poland, from 15 to 22 May 2027. Emerging opera singers can apply online by 31 January 2027. The event combines a recorded preselection with several live performance stages, offering recognition for voices, repertoire choices and musical collaboration.
Who is eligible?
The competition is intended for students and graduates of vocal or vocal-acting programmes at music institutions in Poland and other countries. The regulations specify participants born after 1 January 1997. Singers without such formal qualifications may still be considered at the artistic director’s discretion if they can document substantial achievements and provide an appropriate recommendation. Applicants should check the complete regulations rather than assuming that professional experience alone is sufficient.
Important dates
Applications opened on 1 September 2026 and close on 31 January 2027. The list of qualified participants is scheduled for 25 February 2027, followed by further paperwork for accepted candidates by 15 March. Live rounds take place during 16–21 May, with the winners’ ceremony and gala concert on 22 May. Because travel and availability matter, shortlisted singers should plan for the full competition period.
Preselection video and repertoire
Applicants must submit a recording of one or two pieces lasting 7–12 minutes in total, recorded after 30 June 2026. The recording must include Mozart; individual pieces must not be edited internally. The organiser asks for clear sound, an MP4 file and a minimum resolution of 1280 × 720. The broader competition programme also includes a Polish composer, a work from the specified contemporary-composer list and orchestral opera arias in the final round.
Awards and the organiser
The first prize is stated as the equivalent of €10,000, alongside second and third prizes. Special recognition includes performances of Mozart, Polish repertoire, coloratura soprano artistry and collaborative piano. The competition is organised by the SOKÓŁ Małopolska Culture Centre, a regional cultural institution with a continuing history of vocal competitions and winner concerts in Nowy Sącz. The organisers specify that the entrance fee for accepted participants supports accommodation, meals and certain accompaniment services; the exact current payment instructions should be checked in the official documentation.
