A professional season in Texas, with video-only selection

Fort Worth Opera is receiving applications for the 2027–28 Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artist Program until 1 November 2026. This intake is by recording only: the company states that no live audition will be held. The proposed contract runs from 30 August 2027 to 1 May 2028, allowing selected singers to gain experience within a professional opera company and present performances, touring educational programmes and community events.

Eligibility and selection materials

Applicants must already be US citizens or hold a visa allowing them to work in the United States; the listing also excludes singers who are already professionally represented by an agent or manager. A standard artistic headshot, résumé and repertoire list are required alongside a one-minute introduction video and contrasting opera arias. At least one aria must be in English. Musicians should verify editing rules and recording-link access before submission.

Important separation between stipend and expenses

Selected Resident Artists receive a weekly stipend, but the announcement does not promise a fixed amount publicly. Crucially, Fort Worth Opera says it does not cover housing, transportation or relocation expenses. These costs must therefore be calculated independently before accepting a contract. The programme is paid early-career training and performance, not an automatically funded residence.

Organiser background and application safety

Fort Worth Opera is a long-standing professional opera organisation in Texas, presenting staged productions and community programmes. Its official Auditions page leads to the Hattie Mae Lesley application hosted on YAP Tracker, where the institution sets out dates and restrictions. Applicants should contact the company through its official channel for contract terms, permitted US work status and the exact weekly stipend.

Official call, rules and application

Information reviewed on 23 October 2026. Always confirm current eligibility, deadline and time zone, costs, recording requirements and licence/contract conditions on the organiser's site before submitting or paying.
