Wagon Wheel Symphony of the Lakes will hold its 12th Young Artist State-Wide Competition on February 20, 2027, from 10 a.m. at Warsaw Performing Arts Center, Indiana. The orchestra began in 2005 and became part of Wagon Wheel in 2015.

Eligibility, awards and deadline

Entrants must live in Indiana and have a private instructor or participate in school music activities. Junior entrants are in grades 3–8; seniors are in grades 9–12. Orchestral strings, including harp, woodwinds, brass and percussion qualify; piano does not.

Registration closes January 30, 2027, at noon; the announcement does not specify a time zone. The non-refundable fee is US$30. Senior prizes are $500 and $250; the junior first prize is $100. The senior winner may perform with the orchestra, subject to repertoire and scheduling.

How to enter

Submit the official registration form and pay through the current registration packet’s payment link. Its payment page identifies the 12th competition and the January 30, 2027 deadline. The form’s own payment hyperlink still names the 11th edition, so use the current packet’s route.

Prepare an accompanied concerto movement or showpiece lasting no more than 12 minutes and bring three scores with numbered measures. Previous first-prize winners cannot re-enter the same division on the same instrument.
