The Split International Music Competition is inviting saxophonists to Croatia for its international saxophone contest on 23–25 January 2027. The organiser's current saxophone announcement gives an application deadline of 1 December 2026, with a discounted early entry window ending on 1 November. Performance rounds take place at Hrvatski dom Split, Tončićeva 1, and the first stage is based on video or a prescribed programme. This call concerns concert and classical saxophone performance, not a jazz-specific competition.

Competition format and repertoire

The latest contest information lists three performance stages. The opening stage calls for Paul Bonneau's Caprice en forme de valse. The semifinal programme includes a movement from a J. S. Bach solo-instrument work played from memory, together with music of the performer's choice within the prescribed time. The final requires works from the organiser's official list and a free-choice programme. Players should consult the live application page for the complete exact scores and recording requirements, as older versions of the website display different season dates.

Eligibility, entry fees and expenses

The detailed saxophone rules describe an age limit of up to 32 years. The current event listing advertises an early registration fee of €100 and a standard fee of €115, with 1 November and 1 December deadlines respectively. The organiser's older indexed rules show lower fees from a previous edition, so applicants should follow the amounts shown in the payment form for the 2027 contest and request clarification if their application screen disagrees.

Competitors fund their own accommodation and transportation; the host states it does not book these services. A Croatian personal identification number (OIB) may be required by prize recipients to receive monetary awards. Check document requirements and any pianist or accompaniment arrangements with the organiser before purchasing travel.

Venue and the organisation

Split International Music Competition operates under Hrvatski dom Split (Croatian Home Split) and hosts several instrument disciplines at its Tijardović Concert Hall. Its venue description lists a Steinway concert grand, stage facilities and a central location, illustrating the intended live concert setting. The published juror roster includes saxophone specialists from Croatia, Poland and Slovenia, but participants should treat any names marked provisional as subject to change.
