Nuova Consonanza 2026 - Call for Audiovisual Works

Entry fee / cost: Participation is free.

Eligibility: Open to audiovisual authors and composers of all nationalities and reserved for applicants under 40. The same official page also gives the wording "born before December 31, 1987," which is inconsistent with the under-40 condition. Applicants should confirm the exact date requirement in the downloadable registration form or with the organizer before submitting.

Opportunity / work requirements: The call gives priority to works in which sound adds significant value to the audiovisual experience. Multichannel audio is accepted. Video must be 4:3 or 16:9 in MP4 or MOV using ProRes, H264, H265 or DNxHD; multi-screen works are not permitted. The audio must be embedded in the video and also submitted separately as WAV. Accepted configurations include stereo, quadraphonic, 5.1, 7.1, Ambisonics up to seventh order and octophony. There is no fixed duration, but works of 15 minutes or less are preferred. Each applicant may submit up to two works.

Support / prize / benefit: Selected works will be presented during the 63rd Nuova Consonanza Festival at Il Mattatoio - La Pelanda in Rome in December 2026. The official call does not state a cash prize or honorarium. Travel and attendance expenses are not reimbursed.

Application method: Email the completed and signed registration form, valid ID, biography of no more than 900 characters, photograph and work notes of no more than 1,000 characters to call@nuovaconsonanza.it. High-quality audiovisual and WAV files must be provided through a permanent storage link.

Schedule / additional conditions: The screening date will fall within the December 2026 festival programme in Rome.
