Khachaturian International Piano Competition 2027: 10 April Video Deadline, €200 Only After Selection
An international piano competition in Yerevan
The Khachaturian International Competition's 2027 Piano edition takes place in Yerevan, Armenia, from 6 to 13 June 2027. Pianists of every nationality may apply if they will be aged 16–35 on the opening day. The initial selection is based on recorded performance, followed by three live rounds for up to 24 selected pianists. The posted online-application deadline is 10 April 2027, with the primary video result scheduled for 20 April.
Prescreening repertoire and video integrity
Applicants must provide one or two video links totalling at least 15 minutes, featuring a Classical-period work and a Romantic-period work, or movements from each. Each performance must be continuous and unedited, and the application records the work titles, dates and durations of the recordings. Video selections may be repeated in later rounds if consistent with the rules. The organiser also requires a passport copy, an English biography in Word format and a high-resolution publicity photograph.
The participation fee is conditional
The €200 participation fee, paid in Armenian dram equivalent, is due only from entrants who pass video preselection and are admitted to the first live round. It is non-refundable, and transfer charges remain the entrant's responsibility. The organisers provide selected participants with free single-room hotel accommodation and meals while they remain active in the competition; accompanying persons are not included. Candidates eliminated from rounds who decide to remain in Yerevan may need to pay for the additional days themselves.
Live finals with orchestra and organiser credentials
After the initial live stage, 12 participants advance to the semifinal and four to the final with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. Performances use the Arno Babajanyan and Aram Khachaturian concert halls. The established Khachaturian Competition publishes detailed contest rules, previous winners and recorded performances; the 2027 competition is affiliated with the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation. Applicants should check programme memorisation, visas, live broadcasting rights and the organiser's current payment instructions directly, rather than copying bank details from third-party summaries.
