Organizer: The Europasinfonie consortium, connecting orchestras and choirs in 12 European countries.

Entry fee / cost: No entry fee.

Eligibility: Open to individual composers aged 18 or older who are legal residents of a Creative Europe eligible country. There is no nationality or citizenship restriction. The official FAQ states that UK residents are not eligible under the current country list. At least one of the three commissions will be awarded to a composer aged 35 or younger at the deadline.

Opportunity / work requirements: Two categories are available: large symphony orchestra, and large symphony orchestra with choir. Applicants submit an anonymous score excerpt of at least 2 minutes and a written statement of no more than 5,000 characters. One excerpt may be submitted in each category. The excerpt must not have been premiered, published, or awarded before the competition concludes. Selected composers will develop a complete 15-to-20-minute work for the full distributed instrumentation. The project asks composers to engage creatively with the differing network latencies between the 12 performance locations.

Support / prize / benefit: Three composers will each receive a gross commission of EUR 14,000: two commissions for orchestra and one for orchestra with choir. The completed works are scheduled for world premiere on 18 June 2027 in a real-time concert distributed across 12 European countries, with a live audience in Dresden and worldwide livestream. Commissioned composers receive artistic and technical support, and are invited to a workshop in Dresden on 20 October 2026; remote participation may be possible.

Application method: Submit exclusively through the online application form on the official Europasinfonie page. Required materials include the anonymous excerpt score, the artistic statement, personal information, biography and photograph; an audio mock-up is optional. Choral applications also require information about the chosen text and confirmation of the necessary rights.

Schedule / additional conditions: The jury will select two orchestral projects and one orchestra-and-choir project on 28-29 September 2026. Results will be announced publicly after the jury session and published on the official website.
