Concertino Praga 2027: No Entry Fee for Young Wind, Harp, Accordion and String Players
Czech Radio competition with two different closing dates
The 61st Concertino Praga – Antonín Dvořák International Radio Competition for Young Musicians will be held in 2027 under Czech Radio and the Academy of Classical Music. The wind section, covering flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, horn and trombone, closes on 21 March 2027. Keyboard and string entrants—piano, violin, viola, cello, harp and accordion—have until 31 March 2027. The official announcement says participation is free; candidates still bear the cost of preparing their own submissions.
Three different age rules
Piano and violin applicants must be born on or after 18 September 2011. Viola, cello, harp and accordion applicants must be born on or after 18 September 2010. Wind players must be born on or after 17 September 2009. This difference matters to families preparing multiple auditions. The official rules also include a current Russian-citizenship eligibility restriction, so all candidates should verify the complete nationality and participation terms before beginning a recording.
Unedited audio and a verification video
This is a radio competition, and the first-round evaluation uses high-quality audio files rather than ordinary social-media clips alone. Required pieces must be submitted as WAV/PCM recordings in accepted sample rates; a continuous video record of the session is also required as evidence of compliance with the editing rules. Applicants receive an identification code and upload instructions after completing the online form. Leaving the form until the last day can reduce the time available to check file formats and transfers.
Orchestral finals and financial scholarships
The wind-instrument final is scheduled for 16 September 2027 in Prague and the keyboard/string final for 17 September, both accompanied by orchestras. The first three prizes carry published scholarships of €5,000, €2,800 and €1,700; finalist performances in South Bohemia follow later in September. Concertino Praga has an established archive of past winners and is associated with the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival, providing a way to verify its history. Entry is free but award and travel provisions still depend on the official conditions.
