Syros Jazz Festival 2027 Seeks Jazz and Improvisation Bands from Abroad
About the 2027 call
The fifteenth Syros Jazz Festival on the Greek island of Syros is calling for foreign jazz and improvised-music groups for the September 1–15, 2027 festival period. The opportunity is advertised by the festival's partner Jazz Solidarity Network and welcomes varied live projects within jazz and improvisation.
Artists and formats welcomed
Rather than a residents-only call, the official title explicitly asks foreign bands to submit. Selection preferences are important: groups affiliated with jazz associations, festivals or venues that can offer reciprocal opportunities to host a Greek band in their own country receive priority. The invitation is therefore international, but not an unconditional promise of equal selection chances.
Submission process and deadline
Submit by October 30, 2026 via the Google application form linked from Jazz Solidarity Network's announcement. Applicants should supply the details requested by the organizer, with any ensemble and performance materials specified in the official form. The production team will try to facilitate additional concerts or masterclasses in Greece near the festival dates, but these are not guaranteed.
Fees, support and important conditions
Selected musicians receive gross performance fees of €200–300 each, depending on the band size and members' careers, payable against the appropriate invoice. The host offers twin-room accommodation in suitable lodging or approved volunteer homes, meals on show day and ferry tickets only through designated ferry providers with arrangements made in advance. Travel expenses before reaching the port of Piraeus are not covered. Extra family members or friends must cover their own lodging and food.
