Split International Piano Competition 2027: Croatia’s International Pianist Call, €3,000 First Prize
The Split International Piano Competition will take place from 29 to 31 January 2027 at Hrvatski dom Split, Tončićeva 1, in Split, Croatia. Pianists based internationally can apply through an online preselection video and compete in a series of public performance rounds. The application deadline is 1 December 2026; a lower early-registration price applies until 1 November. The first prize is €3,000 together with a masterclass with jury members, a performance at the winners’ concert and an audiovisual recording.
Deadline, submission and fees
Online preselection video: submit by 1 December 2026. The competition page specifies 15 minutes of free-choice repertoire for this first stage.
Early-bird registration fee: €100 if submitted by 1 November 2026.
Regular registration fee: €115 through 1 December 2026.
The online form requires full details and proof that the fee has been paid; the ordinary fee is non-refundable if the candidate withdraws or submits invalid documents.
The organisers accept applications through a linked Google application form; read all relevant instructions before paying, and make sure the email address and video share settings work. The official page also gives an email route for the preliminary recordings. Application does not include an automatic travel or accommodation grant. Entrants from outside the EU may need additional time for travel documents.
Four-round format and repertoire
The piano competition has a preselection video followed by live first round, semifinal and final in Split. The first-round programme combines a classical-sonata movement and a virtuoso étude, selected from the prescribed composers and categories; finalists must prepare a substantially wider programme. Competition rules specify permitted repertoire and performance times for each round; applicants should consult the current official list instead of assuming that a work prepared for another contest will be acceptable.
Because an official audition programme can change, treat the online 15-minute recording and the three January rounds as distinct submission requirements. Note the rules on memorisation, repeating repertoire across rounds and restrictions on accompaniment. Where technical video instructions or a player's eligibility criteria are not shown in the public summary, confirm them in the organiser's current application form before remitting the entry fee.
Awards
First place: €3,000, masterclass, winners’ concert and audiovisual recording.
Second place: €1,500 plus the advertised masterclass and performance benefits.
Third place: €500 plus the advertised masterclass and performance benefits.
Best performance of a Croatian composition: special €200 award.
Audience award: €200.
Host background and application safety
The competition is part of the Split International Music Competition series organised in conjunction with Hrvatski dom Split, a cultural concert venue in Croatia. Photographs and prizewinner listings from the 2026 edition are available on its website. Its other contests for saxophone and cello are different events, with different rules and dates. The piano call publicly identifies its venue, programme and refund conditions, allowing entrants to check the organiser directly before submitting personal data.
