Random Access Music QNMF 2027 Calls for Free, Anonymous Chamber Music Scores Worldwide
Opportunity overview
Random Access Music (RAM) is seeking new chamber compositions to be performed by the RAM Players at the Queens New Music Festival in New York City in May 2027. Winning works will be professionally recorded in both audio and video, with an archive supplied to the composers.
Who may apply
The organizer explicitly has no age, gender or geographic requirements. Scores must have been written within the last ten years and must not have won any prize in a previous competition. Previously premiered or recorded pieces remain eligible as long as they have not already received a competition award.
Eligible work
Eligible music lasts between six and twenty minutes, using any combination of flute (also ryuteki), clarinet or bass clarinet (also hichiriki), violin, cello and piano, with each wind-instrument doubling assigned to one player. Electronics are permissible if the composer or a representative supplies and operates the required technology.
Deadline and how to apply
The deadline is January 15, 2027. Submit an anonymous PDF score to ram.nyc.info@gmail.com, removing all identifying text from cover and internal pages, dedications, copyright lines and notes. Give the composer's full name, address and telephone or other contact method in the email itself. An MP3 performance or MIDI rendering may be attached but is not mandatory.
Fees, awards and important conditions
Entries are free. The composer of a winning work receives an audio and video archive of the festival performance. RAM cannot pay flights or hotels for composers wishing to attend in New York, although remote attendance at rehearsal can be arranged. Winner announcements are scheduled for February 15, 2027.
