Premio Paganini 2027: International Violin Competition Opens for Ages 15–30 Worldwide
Competition overview
The 59th International Violin Competition Premio Paganini, organized in Genoa, Italy, welcomes young violinists worldwide. Its 2027 competition is scheduled for October 11–24. The jury will be chaired by former winner Ning Feng; the musical programme gives space to chamber repertoire and contemporary composition, including a specially commissioned piece for violin and live electronics by Matteo Franceschini at the semifinal stage.
Eligibility and audition rounds
Applicants may hold any nationality. The age test has two distinct cut-offs: performers must already be 15 on December 1, 2026 and must still be under 31 on October 24, 2027. An initial video preselection will be followed by in-person auditions in April–May 2027 in Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin, Genoa and New York. Participation in these rounds depends on being selected, and travel arrangements must be considered before applying.
Fee and application materials
Apply exclusively through the organizer's online application with the digitally completed and signed form, passport or identity document, recent photograph, accessible performance-video links and the other required attachments. The official form asks for proof of payment of the €150 registration fee; for applicants residing abroad it mentions bank transfer. Ensure cloud-hosted videos can actually be opened by the jury and read the 59th-edition rules for repertoire and document formats.
Deadline, travel and selection
The submission deadline is December 1, 2026 at 23:59 Italian time. The qualifying and final stages are not remote alternatives for every artist, and entry alone guarantees neither advancement nor prizes. Published applicant information does not promise full travel and accommodation reimbursement for everybody; review the competition rules and any invitation-specific support before making financial commitments.
