NAMT Festival of New Musicals 2027 Accepts New Shows: December 15 Early Deadline
The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) is inviting new stage musicals for its 2027 Festival of New Musicals. The organisation’s official submission platform lists December 15, 2026 as the early deadline and January 5, 2027 as the late deadline. NAMT explicitly warns that there will be no extension to either date; late fees apply after the early window.
What kind of opportunity is this?
The Festival of New Musicals is a professional new-work showcase intended to introduce original musical theatre writing to industry participants. Unlike an audition seeking singers for an existing show, this is a submission opportunity for creators with a musical project involving book, lyrics and music. The festival has an established record of presenting works in development and connecting writing teams with producing organisations.
Two dates and the fees
Early deadline: December 15, 2026. Late deadline: January 5, 2027. The current Submittable notice says late fees apply, but does not publish a single universal fee in its overview. Review the Festival’s complete submission guidelines and fee schedule before completing the form. Do not assume entering during the early window is free: the notice identifies only the later fee difference.
Application method
Applications are collected through NAMT’s official Submittable account. You must create a Submittable login, review the festival submission guidelines and FAQ, and complete the form with all the requested information about the work. The system allows a partially completed form to be saved before final submission; it does not permit changes after a completed submission. Check all audio links, scripts, credits and contact details before pressing submit.
Eligibility and work status
The precise requirements for rights ownership, prior productions, length, eligibility of the writing team and requested musical materials are set out in the linked Festival guidelines and FAQ. Because these can affect admissibility, applicants should not infer that every fully staged or commercially produced musical will qualify. Consult the rules rather than a condensed promotion.
Organiser and reliable source
NAMT is a professional membership organisation focused on the development and presentation of musical theatre. Its public Submittable page identifies the New Works Director and provides contact information for procedural questions. The official guidelines and platform together are the appropriate sources to verify eligibility and payment. Information checked October 25, 2026.
