Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition 2027: Free Entry Opens 2 November
The opportunity
The tenth Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition takes place in Turku, Finland, in June 2027. It offers classical singers an international platform for opera, lied and related vocal repertoire. Announced awards include €60,000 first prize, €40,000 second, €30,000 third and €10,000 for other finalists, together with mentoring and performance opportunities.
Eligibility and selection
Applicants must have been born in or after 1995. The preliminary submission comprises three different songs in three different languages: at least one opera aria, at least one lied and one item of the singer's choice. Combined duration is no more than 15 minutes. Each performance must be a single continuous live take with a pianist or orchestra, with the singer visible throughout, and have been recorded on or after January 1, 2026.
Application and requirements
Upload each of the three actual video files separately through the competition portal. Streaming links cannot replace video uploads. MP4 is recommended, alongside several other accepted formats. Include an English-language biography, photograph, voice category, full repertoire and personal details. Selected applicants should be notified by January 15, 2027 and must attend in person in Turku.
Deadlines, fees and important conditions
The application portal opens November 2, 2026 at 09:00 and closes November 30 at 16:00 Finnish time (UTC+2); it was NOT open as of October 11. There is no application or participation fee. International travel is generally self-funded, although eligible applicants may request a discretionary grant of up to 50% of a ticket and no more than €500. Accommodation is provided for competitors, but an apparent year typo on the organizer page should be confirmed before travel planning.
