Long Beach Symphony Trumpet II & III Auditions 2026: Apply by November 2, US Work Eligibility
Long Beach Symphony in California is holding professional auditions for its Second and Third Trumpet positions on Thursday 12 November 2026 at the Long Beach Terrace Theater, 300 Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach. Candidates must EMAIL a résumé by Monday 2 November 2026 and identify TRUMPET in the subject. Performers can ask to audition for either position or both, with a single US$50 deposit covering the two applications. The 2027–28 orchestra season includes classical programmes, Pops concerts, youth performances and family programming, so ensemble agility matters alongside precise orchestral excerpts.
Deadline, location and deposit
Application deadline: Monday 2 November 2026. The original page does not specify an exact closing hour.
Live auditions: 12 November 2026, Long Beach Terrace Theater, 300 Ocean Blvd, California.
Send résumé to the orchestra's audition email shown on the official page; put TRUMPET in the subject and name the intended chair.

The orchestra provides a repertoire and excerpt packet; an access password is shared after the résumé arrives.
Pay is per service, not a yearly fixed salary
The orchestra publishes 2027–28 base-scale pay of $180.06 per rehearsal and $226.13 per performance, subject to the agreement with the American Federation of Musicians. These figures describe individual services, not a monthly salary or guaranteed annual number of engagements. For comparison, 2026–27 base payments are $171.49 rehearsal and $215.53 performance. The 2027–28 concert schedule is described as five classical, five Pops, two youth and two family concerts; final service counts depend on contracts and individual assignments.
Work permission and union rules
Winning candidates must demonstrate US citizenship or an existing legal entitlement to work in the United States and join AFM Local 7 as an employment condition. An audition invitation does not automatically sponsor a visa for an overseas applicant. Travel, accommodation, and any immigration costs are not represented as paid by the orchestra for all candidates. International trumpet players should clarify eligibility before mailing a deposit or booking flights.
Host orchestra and application integrity
Long Beach Symphony is a professional nonprofit regional orchestra with programmes ranging from classical repertoire to popular orchestral arrangements, youth education and family concerts. The publicly issued union agreement, actual concert venue, audition excerpts and payroll rates distinguish this from an online video contest. Applicants should submit directly to the orchestra rather than to a broker offering guaranteed places.
