Kenilworth School and Sixth Form Seeks 0.8 FTE Music Teacher — Apply by 9 November 2026
Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is recruiting a part-time 0.8 FTE Music Teacher for a fixed-term maternity-cover contract running from January to August 2027. The role is based in Kenilworth, England, and the advertised full-time-equivalent salary is £32,916–£51,048 on the MPS/UPS scale.
About the school and music department
Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is an academy for pupils aged 11–19 and is part of Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust. The school moved into a purpose-built campus in September 2023. Its three-teacher Music Department works with Warwickshire Music Hub, supports instrumental tuition and hosts rehearsals and performances for county ensembles.
Music is taught from Key Stage 3 through Key Stage 5. The department offers GCSE Music, the NCFE Technical Award in Music Technology and is preparing to add A-level Music Technology. Its wider programme includes orchestra, brass, rock, music-technology and vocal ensembles as well as annual school productions.
Role and requirements
The successful applicant will teach music across the full ability range at Key Stages 3–5 and contribute to the department’s extracurricular programme. The school describes an aspirational, creative and innovative approach as important. A competent pianist is highly desirable, and experience of teaching Music Technology would be advantageous but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from early-career and experienced teachers.
Eligibility, contract and deadline
This is a UK country-restricted employment opportunity: applicants must already be eligible to work in the United Kingdom, and the employer states that visas cannot be sponsored. Appointment is subject to safeguarding checks, references and an enhanced DBS disclosure. The fixed-term role is advertised at 0.8 FTE from January 2027 to August 2027. The application deadline is 9 November 2026 at 9:00am UK time; the school may interview before the closing date, so applicants should check the live notice.
How to apply
Applications must be made through the employer’s linked MyNewTerm portal; CVs are not accepted. Read the full job description and application instructions on the official GOV.UK Teaching Vacancies page.
