The Barbican is recruiting two Technicians (Sound Bias) for its Music Department in London. The arts centre presents classical and contemporary music alongside theatre, cinema and visual art.

Role and requirements

The work covers sound support for concerts and commercial events, including equipment maintenance, microphone positioning and patching. Applicants need professional DiGiCo console and network experience, the ability to read stage plans, and experience of live-event production. Knowledge of other technical disciplines is useful; further training may be available.

These are workplace-based, full-time contracts lasting 18 months, with 35 contractual hours per week. The annual salary is £39,410–£43,620, including Inner London Weighting. Shifts include evenings and weekends.

Eligibility and application

The City of London Corporation's recruitment FAQ says applicants are expected to already have the right to work in the UK and that sponsorship is not offered in the first instance. This is a work-eligibility condition, not a British-nationality requirement.

Apply through the official vacancy page, reference 1517, by 23:55 on 19 November 2026. The advert requests a CV, a cover letter of no more than two A4 pages and a supporting statement capped at 750 words. Check the linked job pack and application form for the required fields. The employer may close applications early, with 24 hours' notice.
