Overview
The John Lennon Songwriting Contest 2026 Session II is open from July 1 through December 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Amateur and professional songwriters may enter, and multiple songs and categories are allowed with a separate entry for each submission.
Submission requirements
Each song must be original and no longer than five minutes. Audio must be uploaded in MP3 or AAC format, together with a lyric sheet unless the work is instrumental. The listed entry fee is $30 per song. Co-written songs are permitted, with one contact name designated on the application.
Awards
The organizer plans twelve Grand Prize winners and thirty-six finalists for Session II. Prize packages include musical instruments and home-studio equipment. One Grand Prize song from the annual sessions is selected as Song of the Year and receives $20,000. Session II results are scheduled for March 1, 2027.
