Dallas International Violin Competition 2027: Ages 18–35, Applications Open November 1
The Dallas International Violin Competition (DIVC) invites professional-track violinists from around the world to compete in Dallas, Texas, in June 2027. Applications open on November 1, 2026 and must be submitted by December 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. The competition welcomes violinists aged 18–35 under the published age rules, and the nonrefundable entry fee is US$125. Musicians looking for a free online-only contest should take note: this is an in-person competition with additional travel costs for those selected.
Eligibility and the selection process
Entrants must meet the competition's age eligibility during the 2027 competition dates. Applicants first submit recordings for screening; the jury will select a maximum of 18 violinists for the Dallas rounds, with invitations expected by February 1, 2027. The competitive performances are scheduled for June 17, June 18 and June 22, 2027. Players must be prepared for the prescribed repertoire and live commitments; applying does not guarantee an invitation to Texas.
Video audition and application materials
The initial application calls for a continuous, unedited video performance of one movement of a violin concerto with accompaniment, together with approximately 10–15 minutes of selected solo violin repertoire. Prepare a short professional biography or CV, an appropriate headshot, identity information and links to the requested recordings. The official rules identify video-format and repertoire requirements. Applicants should verify that the recordings meet these details before submitting the nonrefundable application fee.
Prizes and the financial reality of attending
The awards advertised include US$2,500 for first prize, US$1,500 for second, US$1,000 for third and US$500 for an audience award. The first-place award also offers performance with the Dallas Chamber Symphony, subject to the programme's terms. A staff accompanist may be arranged for a separate US$300 charge. Final-round accommodation support is limited to the stated eligible participants and rounds; applicants should not assume their flights or hotel for the entire competition are covered.
About the organisers
The Dallas Chamber Symphony is a professional chamber orchestra that presents performances in Texas, and DIVC provides a structured repertoire, jury and competition schedule. The official DIVC site publishes eligibility, screening requirements, prize levels and application instructions, making it the authoritative place to verify this opportunity. The recording and entry-fee conditions are particularly important for young international applicants.
Application checklist
Check your age, prepare the required concerto movement and solo footage, arrange a professional photograph and accurate repertoire list, and allow enough time for recording-upload problems. Applications are not open until November 1, 2026; the final date is December 15. All conditions should be reconfirmed against the organiser's official rules before payment. Opportunity details checked October 25, 2026.
