The Canada Council for the Arts has a 4 November 2026 deadline for Foreign Artist Tours within its Arts Across Canada and Abroad programme. The opportunity helps eligible Canadian presenters and arts organisations circulate work by artists from outside Canada, bringing audiences in Canada new artistic experiences. Professional music and sound presentations may fit where they satisfy the full programme rules.

DEADLINE — The published funding schedule lists two 2026 dates, 15 April and WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER. As of 23 October, November 4 is the next available deadline. The final submission time and activity period must be confirmed inside the Canada Council client portal: the overview does not establish a universal time of day.

WHAT MAKES THIS FUND DIFFERENT? — The key action is bringing an international artist or production to audiences IN CANADA and arranging genuine circulation or touring. It is not an ordinary grant for a Canadian solo artist to travel outside Canada and is not an unrestricted international competition for visiting performers.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER IT? — Canadian arts presenters, artistic groups and organisations planning a credible route for foreign musicians or artistic productions can check the client-portal eligibility. The Canada Council requires appropriate applicant funding profiles and Canada-related artistic activity; an overseas act on its own should not assume it can apply directly without an eligible Canadian partner.

MUSIC AND PRESENTATION POSSIBILITIES — An ensemble of contemporary chamber musicians visiting Canadian concert halls, a culturally significant international traditional-music programme with more than one Canadian partner, or a touring sound-art production might be relevant. Every project must meet the published definition of an eligible foreign-artist tour rather than relying on genre labels.

BUDGET AND FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS — The programme overview does not supply a reliable single maximum payment for every Foreign Artist Tours proposal. Applicants should consult the detailed 2026 opportunity, including eligibility for artists' fees, transport, technical production, venue and accessibility costs, and the funder's budget and supporting-partner conditions; no grant is guaranteed.

APPLICATION PREPARATION — Identify the Canadian presenter, artists and intended audiences, tour itinerary, venues, agreements with participating foreign artists, financial partners and fair artist fees. Include any touring permits or visa issues, performance rights, recordings or projections needing licences, promotion plans and accessibility arrangements.

ORGANISER BACKGROUND — Canada Council for the Arts is Canada's federal public arts funding agency. In 2025 it reorganised earlier Arts Across Canada and Arts Abroad activities into the Arts Across Canada and Abroad programme, which also supports Canadian artist travel, international co-productions and market development.

OFFICIAL GUIDE AND SUBMISSION — https://canadacouncil.ca/funding/grants/arts-across-canada-and-abroad . Choose 'Foreign Artist Tours' from its ten opportunities and log in to the official Canada Council client portal for the full guidelines. Checked 23 October 2026; do not confuse the 4 November deadline with the programme's other ongoing streams.
