Round 14 opens on 23 October 2026

Youth Music has announced Round 14 of its Trailblazer Fund for organisations working with children and young people in England. Applications are scheduled to open on Friday 23 October 2026 and close on Friday 20 November 2026 at 5 pm UK time. Grants range from £2,000 to £30,000. On the article's verification date, 15 October, the round is not yet open; this is an advance notice to allow organisations to prepare a strong, eligible application.

Who and what is eligible?

The Trailblazer Fund is designed for organisations in England delivering work with children and young people aged 25 or under. Supported projects should help young people make music, learn through music or develop ways to earn within music. The fund is not a general international call or a grant for an individual overseas performer: it is directed at England-based organisational activity. Applicants should check the current applicant guidance for entity, budget and safeguarding requirements before submitting.

The programme's six themes

Applications need to align with at least one of the following themes: early years; disabled, d/Deaf or neurodivergent young people; youth justice; young people facing barriers; young adults; or organisations and the workforce. The fund encourages projects that test a new approach, maintain valuable grassroots music-making or challenge an established way of doing things.

What a Trailblazer project could look like

Youth Music gives examples including a grassroots music organisation sustaining community music sessions; an early-years organisation exploring music-making with nurseries; a youth centre introducing a new music programme; or a music education hub granting young people more influence over decisions and budgets. These are illustrations, not automatic guarantees of eligibility or funding. Applicants should explain what participants will gain and why their proposed approach meets local needs.

Dates to plan around

Applications open: 23 October 2026. Submission deadline: 20 November 2026, 5 pm UK time. The organiser expects notification on 19 March 2027. Round 14 is intended for projects starting between April and June 2027. Organisations considering a proposal should check that staffing, delivery partners and access arrangements are realistic for this period.

Preparing a stronger application

Begin by identifying the children and young people the project will reach, the barriers they currently face and how the music activity can address them. Then set out the creative methods, delivery team, participant voice, suitable access and safeguarding measures, and a proportionate budget. The organiser provides application guidance and application questions on its official page. Youth Music also asks applicants who use AI to draft answers to ensure that their submissions honestly reflect the organisation's real work and plans.

How to apply

Visit the official Trailblazer Fund page, read the current applicant guidance and use Youth Music's application system once Round 14 opens. Because the call is for organisations in England, applicants should not treat it as a worldwide music competition. Any changes to opening dates, criteria, funding levels or procedures should be taken from the official page.
