Overview. Wandsworth Music, a London music-education charity, is recruiting a Creative Content & Communications Lead. The organisation works with schools, runs a Music Academy, supports orchestras, bands, choirs and contemporary-music ensembles, and produces concerts and international tours. This is a communications role inside a music organisation rather than a performer audition or a composition commission.

Role and contract. The post is four days per week on an initial one-year fixed-term contract. The published salary is £35,000–£38,000 full-time equivalent, giving an actual salary of £28,000–£30,400. Benefits listed in the recruitment pack include 28.8 days of leave inclusive of bank holidays for the working pattern and a NEST pension with a 9% employer contribution. Work is based across the Wandsworth Music office, schools, events and Music Academy, with some home-working flexibility. Occasional evening and weekend attendance is required.

Main responsibilities. The successful applicant will develop content and stories, write and edit copy, produce newsletters, interviews and impact stories, and maintain a consistent voice and visual identity. The role also covers photography, short-form video, image and audio editing, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools, website updates, social-media publishing, digital campaigns, analytics, mailing lists, donor communications and accessible content. Safeguarding, consent, GDPR and secure media handling are material parts of the work because children and young people appear in programmes and media.

Who the organisation seeks. Essential evidence includes a strong written, visual and digital portfolio; website and social-media experience; short-form video and photography skills; copywriting and editing; organisation across multiple deadlines; and an understanding of safeguarding, consent, copyright and accessibility. Experience in music, arts, education, youth, charity or live-performance settings is desirable. A formal qualification is not mandatory where equivalent ability is demonstrated through professional experience and a portfolio.

UK eligibility and pre-employment checks. This is a London-based PAYE role. Wandsworth Music's recruitment materials require pre-employment checks, including identity, Enhanced DBS and immigration/right-to-work checks. Applicants therefore need valid permission to work in the United Kingdom; the listing is treated here as a country-restricted local-language vacancy, not as an international remote call. Candidates should verify their own immigration position before applying.

How to apply and deadline. Email the completed Wandsworth Music core-team application form, a supporting statement of no more than two A4 pages, and a portfolio or links showing relevant written, photographic, video, social-media, design or digital work. Explain your personal contribution to each example. The official closing date is 4 November 2026. The recruitment page gives the application email and the named contact for an informal discussion.
