Sampo & Modalio Academy 2026 - Augmented Music, Composition, and Improvisation

A six-day academy in Alpe d’Huez, France, for performers and composers interested in augmented instruments, real-time electronics, improvisation, and mixed music.

Deadline: 31 July 2026. Registrations are accepted in order of arrival after form and payment.

Application Fee / Participation Fee: Pedagogical fee: 200 euros. The official page lists an early rate of 180 euros before 30 April; that early deadline has already passed at the time of this document.

Eligibility: Open to musicians of all nationalities and backgrounds. No prior experience in electroacoustic or mixed music is required. The academy prefers to limit enrollment to 12 participants.

Composition / Submission Requirements

·       Dates: 23-28 August 2026, with arrival on 22 August and departure on 29 August.

·       Location: Centre Notre-Dame des Neiges, Alpe d’Huez, France.

·       The program covers instrumental playing with electronic effects, improvisation with real-time processing, electroacoustic composition, mixed-music interpretation, sound files, soundpainting, and concert practice.

·       Participants should submit the registration form, a photo, a short biography, and payment of the registration fee.

Prize / Benefits

·       Six intensive days of training with Sampo and/or Modalio augmented-instrument systems.

·       Individual, collective, technical, and artistic support.

·       Opportunity to present work in a public concert with video capture for participants who wish to do so.
