Northern Ireland–Great Britain Connect Fund 2026: £300–£50,000 for Cultural Projects, Opens 2 November
Important: applications have not opened yet
The UK Northern Ireland Office has announced Round 3 of its Connect Fund, a programme designed to deepen connections between voluntary and community groups in Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Applications are scheduled to open at 00:01 UK time on 2 November 2026 and close at 17:00 UK time on 18 December 2026. As of the verification date, 19 October 2026, the round is announced but NOT yet open for submissions. The authority will publish updated guidance and a government grants application link when the window begins.
The round has an overall £500,000 allocation, with individual eligible bids ranging from £300 to £50,000. Projects funded in this round are intended to run between 1 April 2027 and 31 March 2028. This is support for partnerships and civic engagement projects, not unrestricted support for recording a single or hiring an individual musician.
How music, live performance and cultural exchanges fit
Past grants have supported theatre tours, musical performances, community collaborations, youth leadership activities and conversations between civic groups across UK regions. A project pairing a Northern Ireland community arts organisation with partners in Scotland, Wales or England could be relevant if its principal goal is genuine collaborative exchange and lasting links.
Music organisations should explain their shared work rather than merely propose that an established band travel for one commercially ticketed show. The fund emphasises community relationships, reciprocal participation, learning and inclusion. Artists without an eligible voluntary or community organisation should seek an appropriate applicant body and check the full Round 3 eligibility rules after publication.
Understand the range: £300–£50,000 is not a promised artist fee
Each successful applicant will receive a level of funding based on the evaluated proposal and its approved costs; £50,000 is the advertised cap per bid, not a guaranteed award. The programme's headline budget is £500,000 across the round, and organisations should distinguish their own cash and in-kind contributions from the support they are requesting.
Project organisers should draw up a credible financial plan covering artist and facilitator fees, accessible public activities, travel and accommodation, necessary production and venue costs, and project coordination. The official Round 3 detailed guidance will establish which expenses are eligible, whether matching funds are required and how reporting works. It would be premature to invent precise restrictions before the updated guidance is released.
Past organisers and a traceable public programme
The Connect Fund is administered by the Northern Ireland Office, a UK Government department. According to the department's October 2026 announcement, previous rounds supported collaborations including Bbeyond, the Northern Ireland Performance Art Network, with Wales-based TactileBOSCH, as well as arts and other voluntary organisations across the UK. The announcement documents prior funded activity rather than presenting an anonymous private funding broker.
The government has published the names of supported partnerships and a dedicated fund page. These are useful safeguards when verifying a grant; they do not guarantee the next round's suitability or approval. All applicants should avoid sending financial details to intermediaries that promise a fast-track award.
