North Bay Chamber Orchestra 2026–27 Call for Scores: Worldwide Composers, 15-Minute Maximum
A new-music performance route, not an open-ended commission
North Bay Chamber Orchestra in the greater Tampa area, Florida, invites composers of any age, nationality or career stage to submit scores by October 31, 2026 for consideration in upcoming concert seasons. Works may be up to fifteen minutes long. The organisation describes itself as a professional-training ensemble in which developing orchestral musicians perform alongside regional professionals. Submitting a work does not mean it will automatically be commissioned or performed, but provides an opportunity for selection and collaboration.
Three precise ensemble-size limits
The call specifies three maximum instrumental configurations: a classical chamber orchestra with pairs of woodwinds, two horns and two trumpets, timpani and small strings; a reduced string orchestra; or a wind decet using two each of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn. Smaller subsets are permitted. Works requiring soloists, arrangements and transcriptions are not eligible. The fact that a score uses only ten players is not sufficient if it includes instruments outside the permitted forces.
Previous performances and application package
Music that has been performed by community or academic ensembles may be submitted, but professional or festival performances disqualify a work. Each submission requires a complete PDF score, audio recording (live preferred but a MIDI realisation accepted), a programme note of up to 250 words and a short composer biography of up to 150 words. Do not submit instrumental parts at the first stage. The official instructions request email submission with proof of the required fee; the current amount and payment route should be checked on the live page before payment.
Checking the organisation
North Bay Chamber Orchestra publishes its musical mission, concert activity and supporter community through its official website. Its open call is tied to a named submission email and actual orchestration limits, providing an identifiable source. Before applying, the composer should clarify recording rights, whether attendance is expected if selected and who would cover any rehearsal or travel expenses.
Official rules and organiser application
Information verified on 23 October 2026. Before applying, confirm current deadline and time zone, entry and participation costs, instrument or media rules, work eligibility, copyright and funding directly in the official organiser documents.
