New Note International Composer's Competition 2026

Entry fee: There is no entry fee.

Eligibility: Open to composers of all ages and nationalities. More than one score per composer is permitted.

Composition / submission requirements: The call is for a composition for cello octet, meaning eight cellos. Use of tape or live electronics is permitted. Duration must be up to 15 minutes. Works must have been composed after 31 December 2019 and must not have won a prize in another competition. Previously performed works may be submitted if they have not already been published or professionally recorded for commercial use.

Prize / benefit: The first prize is €3,000 gross, including taxes, plus concert performance by Cello Octet during the Samobor Music Festival in September 2026.

Application method: Submit by email to sgj@samobor.hr with the anonymous score PDF, MP3 recording, and the separate composer information requested on the official page.

Recommended for: Composers interested in strings, cello ensemble writing, and chamber music with optional electronics.

Applicant note: The winner must provide performance materials at their own expense by 30 July 2026, so practical part preparation should be considered before applying.
