Eligibility

Composers who are citizens or residents of Nordic countries:Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Greenland, ÅlandNo age limit

Composition Requirements

  • Instrumentation:

    • Women’s choir a cappella (SSAA, 4–8 parts), or

    • Women’s choir and accordion

    • Solo vocal passages permitted, but choir must play a central role

  • Duration: 3–6 minutes

  • Text:

    • Free theme

    • Language must be Nordic language, English, or Latin

    • Composer must hold permission for text use

  • Work must be newly written

    • Not previously performed, published, or submitted to other competitions

Prize

  • Total prize sum: €5,000, distributed among one or more winners

  • Winning work will:

    • Be premiered on June 13, 2026

    • Be performed again at the 40th Anniversary Jubilee Concert on November 7, 2026

    • Be published by Gehrmans Musikförlag

Jury

  • Merete Ellegaard – Conductor & Artistic Director, La Cappella

  • Karin Rehnqvist – Composer

  • Tony Margeta – Conductor, former Artistic Director of La Cappella

  • Representative from Gehrmans Musikförlag

  • Additional members to be announced

For works including accordion, accordionist Daga Fagius will be consulted.

Submission Method

  • Submissions must be sent exclusively by email

  • Email is handled by an independent third party to ensure anonymity
