Hertfordshire Music Service recruits Piano and Guitar Teachers for January 2027
Hertfordshire Music Service has separate vacancies for piano and guitar teachers, both starting on 1 January 2027. Applications close on 12 November 2026 at 17:00.
Locations and contracts
The piano vacancy is based in St Albans. The guitar vacancy covers West, Mid and South Hertfordshire. Both involve travel to different teaching locations and variable-hours contracts.
Pay
The advertised full-time-equivalent salary range is £31,293.48–£38,480.40, pro rata. The job descriptions also list £25.73 per hour excluding holiday pay and £28.98 including it. Monthly payments use the excluding-holiday rate; accrued holiday pay is paid separately in January, May and September.
Teaching and eligibility
Teachers deliver individual, shared and small-group lessons, plan for different learning needs and report on pupil progress. The role may also include ensemble work and performance activities. The service seeks strong instrumental skills and a child-centred approach, with repertoire spanning different styles and traditions.
The HMS application form asks about permission to work in the UK. Successful candidates undergo right-to-work verification, an enhanced DBS check and barred-list checks. Nationality restrictions and visa sponsorship are not specified in the vacancy documents.
How to apply
Use the HMS application form and submit it with a covering letter and CV to the recruitment address on the official page. A CV alone is not accepted. Interviews are scheduled for 23 November 2026 at Mid Herts Music Centre in Hatfield.
