Cajasol International Composition Competition for Symphonic Flamenco 2026

Eligibility: Composers of any nationality may apply, with no age limit. The winner of the first edition is excluded.

Composition / submission requirements: The work must be a symphonic flamenco composition of more than 12 minutes. A flamenco singer or singers must appear in one or more movements. The required orchestral template includes strings, woodwinds, brass, and a flamenco section with voice, two guitars, and percussion; a saxophone trio or quartet may also be included. The guitar should not be treated as a solo instrument. The work must be original, unpublished, not awarded, not pending in another competition, not a paid commission, and not previously performed or broadcast.

Prize / benefit: Winner: diploma, €6,000, and edition and premiere of the work by the OSFE, the Flamenco Symphony Orchestra. Extraordinary Mention: diploma and €2,000. Special Mention: diploma and €1,000.

Application method: Submission is anonymous by postal mail to the address stated in the official PDF. The package must include the paper conductor score, a brief anonymous description, digital support with audio and PDFs, and a separate sealed envelope with identity documents and the required affidavit.

Recommended for: Composers who understand flamenco rhythm and want to write a large-scale orchestral work rooted in flamenco rather than general Spanish or Andalusian style.
