An international call for women composers’ scores for orchestra and solo instrument, organized by Conservatorio di Musica “Niccolo Piccinni” in Bari.
Official Call / Opportunity Page URL: https://www.consba.it/getFile.php?id=4600
Deadline: 31 October 2026.
Application Fee / Participation Fee: No application fee is stated in the official PDF.
Eligibility: Open to women composers of any nationality, without age limit.
Composition / Submission Requirements
· Each participant may submit one composition for orchestra and solo instrument.
· Maximum instrumentation is listed in the PDF and includes pairs of winds, brass, timpani/percussion, harp, and strings [10.8.6.4.3].
· Duration: 8-15 minutes.
· Already performed works may be submitted if they are unpublished.
· Materials may be written in Italian or English.
· Required materials include score PDF, contact details, short biography, ID copy, signed release for public performance, and an MP3 recording/simulation link.
Prize / Benefits
· A commission will select one or more works for inclusion in live performance.
· Selected works are planned for the 2027 orchestra programming at Auditorium Nino Rota in Bari with the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and an internally selected soloist.
· The composer of a performed work will be invited to a rehearsal; board and lodging expenses are stated as covered by the Conservatory.
Application Method
· Send the required materials by email to ufficioprotocollo@consba.it.
· Use the official PDF as the authoritative call page and check the Italian text where needed, because it is the reference text in case of controversy.
Recommended for
· Women composers with concise orchestral concertante works or strong orchestra-and-solo-instrument ideas.
· Applicants seeking a European conservatory performance opportunity rather than a cash prize.
Notes for Applicants
· The official call is a PDF; the blog should link directly to that PDF rather than only to the conservatory homepage.
· Because no fee is stated in the PDF, the post should say “no application fee stated” rather than “free” unless re-confirmed.
