Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa International Music Composition Competition 2026

Entry fee: Entry fee is not stated in the official rules PDF reviewed.

Eligibility: Open to composers of all nationalities, with an age limit of 40 years as of 31 December 2026.

Composition / submission requirements: The work must be an original, unpublished work for symphony wind orchestra, excluding solo works. Works must be 10 to 15 minutes. Works already publicly performed or published, commissioned works, and works previously awarded in any national or international competition are excluded. Each candidate may submit only one work.

Prize / benefit: The competition awards three Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa prizes: first prize €2,000, second prize €1,000, and Best Portuguese Composition €500. A maximum of six semifinalist works are rehearsed with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa in October 2026, and a maximum of three finalist works are premiered in Porto in November 2026.

Application method: Submit three bound A3 copies of the full score, one A4 copy of each individual part, a USB drive with score, synopsis, and individual parts in PDF, and a sealed envelope with identity documents by registered mail to the address stated in the official rules.
