ACF Boost 2027: A$5,000 Matched Fundraising for Australian Music and Arts Projects

Australian musicians and arts organisations preparing a new project have a short window to apply for ACF Boost 2027. Creative Australia and the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) offer successful applicants dollar-for-dollar matching of eligible donations raised through their ACF crowdfunding campaign, capped at A$5,000 per participant. Applications close on Monday 19 October 2026 at 12 noon AEDT.

A matched donation programme, not an unconditional A$5,000 grant

ACF Boost helps selected projects attract supporters and increase their fundraising. The amount actually matched depends on qualifying donations. If a participant raises A$3,000 through the ACF campaign from eligible donors, ACF Boost can add A$3,000; if the campaign raises A$7,000, the matching grant stops at A$5,000. The extra money is not paid in full simply because an application was successful.

The fundraising window runs from 1 February to 30 April 2027. Selected applicants are expected to run their campaigns through the ACF platform: donations raised through other crowdfunding services, event ticket sales, sponsorship transactions, loans and government grants are not eligible for ACF Boost matching. Campaigns must not promise material gifts or rewards in exchange for tax-deductible donations.

Which music and cultural projects qualify?

Individual artists, collectives and organisations may apply if they meet the ACF registration criteria. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, aged at least 18, and have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) or an approved arrangement with an auspicing organisation. The grant activity must take place within Australia or demonstrably benefit Australia.

Music is an explicitly recognised cultural form, alongside visual art, design, film, performance and other artforms. A recording project, concert presentation, audience-development activity or community music initiative may therefore be relevant, provided it also meets the general project and fundraising conditions. Applicants should focus on a realistic cultural outcome rather than treating Boost as a generic business grant.

There are exclusions for earlier recipients and overlapping programmes. Those who participated in ACF Boost 2026, received certain other matched-funding schemes, or have outstanding acquittals or debts to Creative Australia cannot assume eligibility. Existing ACF campaigns do not automatically qualify: a project must be submitted within the specified 2026 application window with the Boost option selected.

How to submit before 19 October

Applicants need an ACF Artist Profile and an ACF Project submission. Within the project form, select the box requesting consideration for ACF Boost and answer the additional questions on fundraising strategy, project impact and delivery capacity. The application also asks for the project budget, campaign target, and contingency arrangements.

The deadline is 12 noon AEDT, not midnight. The organiser says that new ACF profile registration may take one to two business days, so a first-time applicant should start the profile process immediately. Once the Boost application is submitted, it cannot be edited further.

Decision, fundraising and project delivery

The published selection notification date is 14 December 2026. The fundraising period then runs during February–April 2027, with project activity able to commence from May 2027. Fund agreements and matched payments are expected in May; recipients must report on their campaign and project after the nominated project end date.

Creative Australia assesses artistic quality, the project's impact, and the viability of the proposed fundraising campaign. A strong application explains why the work matters to its audience, how donations will be solicited and what will happen if fundraising falls short. Reasonable plans are especially valuable because the platform operates on a keep-what-you-raise basis.

Official funding rules and entry

Information checked 15 October 2026. Because the application period ends on 19 October at noon Australian Eastern Daylight Time, check portal readiness now and follow updated official guidance if dates or access conditions change.
