ART Ensemble NRW / Klangraum 61 International Composition Contest 2026

Eligibility: There are no restrictions concerning age, gender, or nationality.

Composition / submission requirements: Submitted compositions must refer to Rainer Maria Rilke's poetry or prose. Duration must not exceed 8 minutes. The work may be purely instrumental or may include low bass voice, also as speaker. Performance must not require electric amplification. The submitted work should be new but may have been performed; it must not have been written before 2015 and must not have won a prize in another competition. Submissions are anonymous.

Prize / benefit: Up to five compositions are selected for performance by ART Ensemble NRW in a finalists' concert on 28 November 2026 in Düsseldorf. Each finalist receives €500. The jury's first prize adds €2,000, and the audience prize adds €500.

Application method: Submit the anonymous PDF score to art@artensemble.de or send it by post to Klangraum 61, Mettmanner Straße 61, D-40233 Düsseldorf, Germany. A separate email must include the composer's name, address, and short curriculum vitae in German or English.
