Deadline: The official page states that the PAS Composition Contest is open for submissions from 1 June through 2 September. The page is for the 2026 competition.
Entry fee: $20.00 per submission.
Eligibility: Only works finished after January 2022 are eligible. Works may have been performed previously, but should not be published. Works may not have been written as part of a commission or consortium where monetary compensation was provided to create the work.
Composition / submission requirements: The 2026 category is solo percussion with electronics. The work is for one performer on any number of percussion instruments. Electronics must be a necessary component. The piece must include at least one acoustic percussion instrument. Minimum duration is 4 minutes; for works over 12 minutes, composers should submit one or more excerpts totaling 12 minutes or less.
Prize / benefit: Awards listed are a $3,000 grand prize, up to two second prizes of $250 each, and honorable mentions with no financial award. Compositions selected by the judges will be listed on the PAS website with the composer’s picture and bio.
Application method: Submit through the online application with an anonymous PDF score and an anonymous audio file of a computer realization or other non-performance recording.
