International Hanns-Eisler Scholarship of the City of Leipzig 2027

A five-month composer-in-residence scholarship in Leipzig, connected to the Hanns Eisler birthplace apartment and the musica nova concert series.

Eligibility: No age limit. Applicants must be able to work on the project mainly in Leipzig during the five-month residence period and may not be enrolled in a music college/university or hold another scholarship during the stay.

Composition / Submission Requirements

·       The work project may be chamber music for up to eight players or an electroacoustic work.

·       The official PDF explicitly allows purely electroacoustic compositions for the 2027 application/project.

·       Application materials: informal application letter, CV, copy of ID/passport, three different scores if possible with audio examples, relevant audio files for electroacoustic applications, and a short project description.

·       Applications may be sent in German or English.

Prize / Benefits

·       Five months in the Hanns Eisler birthplace apartment in Leipzig.

·       Financial support of 1,200 euros per month for the stay period.

·       Premiere of the resulting composition in the musica nova concert series at the Gewandhaus Leipzig.
