Ensemble Kochi, Japan - Call for Chamber Ensemble Work Based on Beethoven

A Japanese ensemble call for a chamber work to be premiered at Ensemble Kochi’s 27th Concert, “Passionately Forged Beethoven,” in Tokyo.

Deadline: 30 September 2026, 23:59 Japanese Standard Time.

Application Fee / Participation Fee: No application fee. The official page also states that no score-use fee will be paid, while copyright fees will be paid through JASRAC or an equivalent copyright-management organization.

Eligibility: The English call is framed as an open call from around the world. Multiple works are allowed if each is submitted separately.

Composition / Submission Requirements

·       Only unpublished and un-premiered works are accepted. Works premiered only in educational institutes such as universities are treated as un-premiered.

·       Instrumentation: 8 to 15 players based on Ensemble Kochi instrumentation, from the listed winds, brass, percussion, harp, piano, strings, and related doublings.

·       Piano extended internal techniques and preparation are not permitted.

·       Duration: within 10 minutes.

·       The work must be based on Beethoven and his works, in connection with the concert theme.

Prize / Benefits

·       Selected work will be premiered on 19 March 2027 at Toyosu Cultural Center Hall, Koto Ward, Tokyo.

·       The composer of the selected work is asked to attend rehearsals when possible, including online participation.

·       A performance video will be provided to the composer after the premiere.

·       Upload full score PDF, program note explaining the relationship between the concert theme and the submitted work, short biography, portrait photo, and optional audio/video link.

·       Composers who can write effectively for a flexible 8-15 player ensemble.
