Eligibility: Open to composers of all nationalities and ages. Submissions must be original compositions that have not been performed or published before the competition.
Composition / submission requirements: Category A is a full-ensemble category based on Ding Yi’s instrumentation of 13 musicians. Category B is the new East Meets West category for Western String Quartet with Chinese Instrumental Quartet. Submitted works should range from 7 to 8 minutes. Solo or concerto format is not allowed.
Prize / benefit: For each of Category A and Category B, the listed prizes are SGD 2,000 for first prize, SGD 1,500 for second prize, and SGD 800 for third prize. The official page also lists a Special Young Singaporean Composer Award of SGD 500 and an Audience Choice Award of SGD 200. First-prize winners may be offered a one-year Composer Fellowship with Ding Yi Music Company.
