AEONIS - Como International Composition Award 2026

An international composition award for younger composers, with Beat Furrer as sole commissioner and final performances by mdi ensemble in Como.

Deadline: 10 July 2026.

Application Fee / Participation Fee: 80 euros per submitted composition, non-refundable.

Eligibility: Composers of any nationality, born on or after 1 January 1991.

Composition / Submission Requirements

·       Duration: 5 to 12 minutes.

·       Instrumentation: 3 to 6 performers chosen from flute family, clarinet family, violin, viola, cello, and piano as specified in the official rules.

·       Electronics and amplification are not permitted.

·       Scores must be anonymous PDF scores, never previously performed, awarded, commercially recorded, radio-broadcast, or published.

·       Performance notes may be written in English, French, German, or Italian.

Prize / Benefits

·       Three finalist scores will be performed by mdi ensemble at Teatro Sociale di Como.

·       Economic awards listed in the rules: 1st prize 4,000 euros; 2nd prize 2,000 euros; 3rd prize 1,000 euros.

·       The first-prize score is scheduled for publication by Casa Ricordi, and the first-prize composer receives a new commission for the 2027 award season.

·       Finalists attending the concert may receive reimbursement up to 500 euros, according to the official rules.

·       Send a separate email with the application form, declarations, CV, composition presentation, recording/radio consent, photo, ID, acceptance declaration, and payment receipt.

Recommended for

·       Composers born in 1991 or later who write chamber music without electronics.

·       Applicants seeking performance by a specialist contemporary ensemble and a major publishing opportunity.
